New LG lines feature Netflix streaming LG has started shipping models in its new LH50 and PS80 TV lines, both of which boast 1080p resolutions and integrated Netflix streaming. The LH50 currently comes with a 47-inch LCD screen, but a 42-inch version is due later this summer; the PS80 has a 50-inch plasma display, and a 60-incher is in the works.

Device makers adopt NAVTEQ's digital pedestrian maps NAVTEQ, a company that develops pedestrian navigation systems, said that its Discover Cities product had been adopted for devices made by parent Nokia as well as Garmin, Samsung and Networks in Motion. With Discover Cities, users get more than 50 pedestrian-specific attributes, such as advice on how to navigate bus stops.

U.S. enters TV's Digital Age After months of preparation, TV stations across the country today will transition from analog to all-digital television signals. The change is expected to herald more channel options, improved audio and video quality and, in the words of acting Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Copps, a paradigm shift. "We're going from the Dinosaur Age to the Digital Age," he said.

Study: LED backlights to exceed 104 million units in 2009 A new study from DisplaySearch reports that 10.6 million LED backlights for LCD panels were shipped around the globe in the first quarter, an increase of 780% when compared with the same three months in 2008. Forecasts call for the shipment of 104.5 million units for full-year 2009 and 25% market penetration by the fourth quarter.
